I such as the beatiful drawings plus the storyline surpasses most. I also that way the people talk within the audio I don't possess to read the full story. What I dont like will be the games are timed, however the board clears one move at any given time. I just finished playing The Lost Treasures of Alexandria the industry fast moving - move it or lose it matching game - plus comparison, this drags. This game differs from Alexandria as this is about clearing the board in lieu of how many matches it is possible to make from the alotted time. I also incorporate some issues seeing perhaps the background game board has looked to gold or you cannot, so sometimes have no idea where a final pieces that should be matched are. May be just aging creeping high on me.

Having bought many of these quest, match 3, etc games was disappointed utilizing this type of one. It ended on level 6 nevertheless it was so sudden and with no warning that I thought game had jammed???? No celebration, congratulation or bells and whistle,
Levels were basic and no information given as using or price of bonus stars/gold coins/boulders??
Such as how you can win, decelerate, block, blast baddies off board, or delay end of game together.
Only found out the way to light fire braziers by fluke move??
Not impressed by any means. Boring, repetitive, no feeling of achievement, no building cities, settlements and even high score rating. No matter what your score, you merely ever rated Silver, rarely getting five stars for score, should you not were so bored you opted to delete all previous scores and experimented with beat them so you had finally worked out how you can got better activities with my

Having thoroughly enjoyed fantastic Jewel Quest 4 I was really keen to buy this latest game inside series as I thought it could be at least pretty much as good, or even better. Extremely disappointed since it is very basic and rather boring. Some in the boards are plain irritating. Ive not really completed the whole game and frankly I don't realize whether I are going to be bothered to as being the storyline is uninteresting and also the games arent particularly challenging. Dont waste your hard earned dollars.

Jewel Quest came up with another amazing game. So many different amounts of play to not get tiresome. Dodge rocks, zap sleeping stars by lining up specials to kill them off, avoid invaders dealing with the top again by lining up specials, complete the board using a certain amount of jewels, expand the grid by matching rows and columns without edges, climb the board by matching only section of the board each time, therefore many more. Normal life can be taken away from you since you want and keep coming back to it so be warned. Great value as for those who have completed the boards, it is possible to go back and redo the people you didnt receive a gold star on by earning specials.

I am this type of Jewel Quest fan, but this new game am disappointing. There are a few new modes, but in addition a great deal of repeats using their company games. I was expecting considerably more from the game, and located it to become so boring. Might be more suited to kids. Certainly regretted buying the game! Try the an hour demo, nevertheless it doesnt really improve and then.

I am keen on Jewel Quest games but in each of the ones they have got put out, they've already not improved the interest rate in which the action pieces move. Everything is as with slow motion. And to complicate things, that you are being timed. However, I have played about 10 matches and from now on need a break. Too slow moving to me. Ill go back to it later though. Besides being slow, there aren't any real interesting graphics. No immediate power ups. I miss the top explosions. On the entire, very disappointing.

Jewel Quest V: The Sleepless Star may be the fifth installment from the relentlessly popular Jewel Quest combination of match-3 puzzle games, accessible for download about the Nintendo eShop for 7.99. For limited price, you receive less-than-premium content. Theres no chapter 7 such as the collectors edition for PC has, the action freezes randomly, and one of many optional boards is bugged and unfinishable.
Keep in your mind, that is a game you are able to legally download from publisher iWins own website, and play without cost with advertisements. The DS version hasn't got any ads,
Match three in the same form of gems, turning those spaces within the board to gold, repeat. Jewel Quest V may be accused of stale and tired gameplay. Its true that there arent many innovations from your previous Jewel Quest III and IV, but when you havent played a Jewel Quest since II that's possible when you are an American DS player; JQ III wasnt released for the DS whatsoever, and JQ IV only agreed to be released around the DS/3DS in Europe, and do not forget that the 3DS is usually a region-locked system you will see plenty of extra twists on match-3 gameplay.
There are warming jewels that must be used to melt ice the overall game never explains that they could be dragged one square onto do so, coin jewels that must be matched to undo locks, monkey jewels that need to be caged, buried jewels that ought to be matched for being unearthed, enemy jewels that must be fought back by matching hero jewels, plus more. Many of these innovations are unique for the Jewel Quest series, as much as I know, and they also do keep stages from reaching stale or repetitive.
Another interesting feature may be the ability to unlock and select animal totems. Once unlocked, a totem is usually used on any stage. Only one totem might be used each time, but they've very strong benefits which might be sometimes critical for clearing a stage, or earning an increased score. Some totems including the initial one awarded for the player extend the timer; others will randomly turn spaces to gold, and may be indispensable for clearing stages with hard-to-reach corners.
Some problems drag the gameplay down with a below average score. The worst is the fact one optional board stage 5 optional board 9 is not possible to complete, due to your bug that a person probably tagged Will Not Fix. See the Bugs Glitches section.
Theres also an absurd difficulty spike within a evasion board the location where the player needs to deal with FOUR enemy jewels simultaneously, but this challenge can be intentional, if ridiculously unbalanced.
Jewel Quest V is equipped with an untimed mode unlimited time, even though the player are only able to earn 1 star around the stage, however it is not a menu option as it should be. Instead, the player has got to unlock untimed mode by failing a board three times inside a single play session, making the totem for unlimited time accessible for use. If you obsessively restarts whenever it appears like theyre likely to lose, they will often never see this totem.
One final annoyance is the fact that Jewel Quest V can just be played with all the stylus, not the D-Pad. If youre having any risk getting the right jewels within the tiny DS screen, or if your fingers get sore from holding the stylus for days, well, tough. Take a break and want to do something else as you rest your hand.
Jewel Quest is out there to color-blind gamers given it differentiates its jewels by shape along with color. The shine of spaces that consider gold with an option to see the board without jewels at whenever, better to quickly identify which spaces still have to be turned should also be helpful towards the color-blind.
Story mode is given colorful still pictures, drawn roughly inside art kind of classic Silver Age comic books. The human figures are pleasant enough to think about. The visuals are serviceable overall, especially for just a genre mysterious for its eye candy.
The music can use more variety, but is basically inoffensive and may also help the gamer get in to the zone of puzzle solving. The story sequences are fully voiced, a severe rarity from the puzzle genre thankfully, you will find subtitles to the deaf or hard of hearing. I wasnt terribly thankful for the voice acting, nonetheless it wasnt atrocious. Some with the accents are over-the-top, notably the villains alleged Estonian accent. Also, sometimes the voice acting abruptly reduces.
The story of JQ V is often a prequel along with other JQ games. It follows a journey of Percy Pack, the uncle of JQ protagonist Rupert Pack. The era appears to be shortly after WW II. As a child, Percy is about the trail of your mysterious jewel the Sleepless Star, but a villain has raided the Algonquin village that treasured it. Percy joins forces with all the beautiful Native American princess Yellow Feather to recuperate the stolen jewel, before its limitless power unleashes death and destruction!
A few twists and turns - like antagonists motivated by a lot more than just greed - help keep the tale mildly interesting. Emphasis on mildly. The story can have been better without quite numerous cliches requiring suspension of disbelief should the villain is supposed to get so ruthless, why didnt he just shoot the heroes? He had many, many
JQ V deserves props for having a fleshed-out story in any way, when numerous puzzle games have either no story or barely three paragraphs of text. But Im still rating it substandard, considering that the DS version doesnt let the participant experience Chapter 7, the epilogue. The DS story ends in the reasonable place, not much of a cliffhanger; the Chapter 7 epilogue is only a bonus postgame adventure inside the Collectors Edition for your PC. But keep planned, youre paying reasonably limited price 7.99 for the game already riddled with bugs. Access to Chapter 7 along with the animal totem that will need Chapter 7 to get! may be the least that JQ V would have offered.
These drag JQ V with the DS down coming from a must-have for match-3 fans to great grief no, take part in the PC version.
Perhaps one of the most frustrating bug is that the overall game will randomly freeze. All of any sudden you can no longer match gems using the stylus; theres not even attempt to be done but restart takes place. This doesnt happen often, when it does, it might inspire all-out rage, especially in case you were near to beating a hard board.
Also, when I declared that optional board 5-9 can't be completed, I was not speaking in hyperbole. The stage just isn't difficult; its literally unfinishable. It is often a Light Fires stage and has now four torches near to the bottom. The game expects the gamer to light them by dragging over special fire gems. But the two torches within the bottom row cant be accessed from above because other torches take top of them, and dragging a hearth gem in a lit torch just vaporizes it, and cant be access through the side because whenever a hearth gem reaches underneath row, it automatically falls away from the screen before the gamer can move it.
This is inexcusable. Its fixed about the PC versions, where stage 5-9 is altered being finishable, but DS players are stuck. Since optional board 5-9 cant be finished, some optional boards that follow it can also be inaccessible, and among the animal totems which takes a five-star rating on every stage in area 5 to unlock is impossible to obtain. Fortunately, this doesnt impact the story plot because optional boards have zero story material whatsoever, also it wont stop the ball player from finishing the action.
Another bug also wont keep the participant from finishing the but only if they can be very persistent. In special pathfinding boards, the participant needs to light torches with fire gems to be able to briefly get connected to areas in the board which are hidden by smoke. The problem? There is only able to be a few 5 to 6? fire gems for the board at a single time. If all possible fire gems get trapped behind the smoke, the player should give up and restart the board. It is much too easy to end up with this unwinnable situation, as well as the PC version fixed it by causing fire jewels vanish if they enter the smoke, rather than getting stuck from it.
While the experience is still finishable however, not with 100% completion, its really not worth putting up using the DS versions bugs, once the patched PC version is significantly cheaper.
Is Jewel Quest V worth your 7.99?
Not for that DS, no. Bugs that randomly freeze the experience and lock the ball player out of an optional stage ruin it. Also, the gamer does not obtain the premium content in the Collectors Edition Chapter 7 despite paying a hefty price.
Youre superior off playing Jewel Quest V for the PC. You can have a cheap or free with ads, legal version in this game using the bugs patched. Or you may pay limited price and have the Collectors Edition for the PC, using the bonus chapter seven. But dont pay reduced price for any horribly inferior product within the DS, if you do not just dont like PC gaming.

We often complain regarding the lack of innovation nowadays in this games industry. Publishers and developers often take the safe and route, making games that stick closely with a tried-and-tested template together with the odd tweak every now and then. While theres nothing wrong with setting up a sequel into a popular game, it is not unreasonable for people consumers to expect how the next title will improve upon the first sort effort.
When it comes for the concept of innovation, Jewel Quest 5 - The Sleepless Star fails spectacularly. One would've hoped how the developers would have no less than used some in the time in-between games to think about what went wrong last time, what needed improvement and what new ideas may very well be implemented. Of course, this looks like a good idea unless you realise until this latest games predecessor, Jewel Quest 4 Heritage, was much to everyones bafflement only released earlier this identical month. Now, Jewel Quest 5 - The Sleepless Star has clearly not been made within a mere month or so, but you could possibly be forgiven for thinking it turned out given how similar the two of these games are. In fact, you could potentially read our Jewel Quest 4 Heritage review and, save for any few story and gameplay elements, youd probably have just of the same quality an idea as to what kind of experience Jewel Quest 5: The Sleepless Star offers.
The gameplay is virtually the same since the last game: match gems over each section with the board no less than once to try and do a stage and find out more about the next. The same graphical assets from Jewel Quest 4 Heritage are utilized throughout, and most with the boards sport much the same layout to individuals found inside last game. Annoyingly, the overall game still has many on the same complaints since its predecessor: the boards will still be quite small, and it shouldn't make the most with the screen size available. Moreover, the story plot is generic, dull which is in no way tied towards the gameplay. Theres full voice-acting throughout however it is far from engaging, and also the story does little to keep you going through the action. To make things worse, it is plagued by the horrendously monotonous soundtrack and low-quality sound files.
It have to be noted that you will find some gameplay tweaks, although it doesn't really have any significant impact around the experience. For example, using stages, you need to clear certain parts from the board first before you are able to use all of the usb ports. Unfortunately, it doesnt add any extra challenge, when you still retain the chance to swap gems across your entire board regardless. Another mode tasks you with clearing gems along the sides in the board, which uncovers more spaces. Again, it results in a very minor change of focus, however it isnt anymore challenging or entertaining because of it.
As you create your way through the experience, you unlock gameplay modifiers. With these that you are able to modify the gameplay conditions in several ways, such since the ability to sacrifice part of your available time as a way to earn more points per match. This is proven to work quite well, as well as in some instances ramps the challenge considerably. However, Jewel Quest 5 - The Sleepless Star is rather a slow-paced game, mainly simply because you have in order to every single the main board. Certain regions of most boards jut out awkwardly, and thus it usually takes a fair period of time just to pay off that one specific area. This is because your success with this area depends upon the random number of gems that appear for the board. As a result, certain modifiers can frustratingly cause multiple playthroughs on the same stage. This only serves to make the sport less fun and feel much more a chore.
As far as sequels go, Jewel Quest 5 - The Sleepless Star is often a disappointing and lazy effort. Given that this Match-3 genre is definitely nearing saturation point, a certain amount of innovation and refinement to this particular stale formula might have helped for making this additional entertaining and appealing. Instead, this really is more or less precisely the same game which has a different paint job. Even in the event you havent played a game in this particular particular series before and afflict love the genre, theres really hardly any reason to receive this title over other, far superior Match-3 games.

Sigh If only they can make a Thorium Wars 2 for 3DS.
