First, my qualifications: Ive got about 3000 hours of real airplane flight time, and Ive wasted roughly 10, 000 hours of gaming playing PC-based flight sims, applying MS Flight Simulator 1.0 with a green-screen Apple IIe, and playing just about everything worth flying between there and Falcon 4.0 on my own current multi-GHz Dell. Ive played extensively online with many different sims, and aviation may be one of my lifelong passions. For whatever its worth, folks, Im a pro on this subject.
I had defer buying IL-2 Sturmovik for a long time, primarily because I couldnt see myself getting that serious about flying a Russian attack airplane. But the online accolades just kept mounting up, and so I started a little bit of reading ever before and discovered that game has over 250 flyable aircraft. What the hl, I thought, and I ordered IL-2 1946 a fortnight ago.
This sim is extremely deceptive. When you finish installing it along with the start menu appears, you immediately think youve been had. Lord knows, Ive installed enough bad sims in the years to understand what crap looks and feels like, and IL-2 1946 sure set it up the first impression that I would definitely want my cash back. The main menu appears to be something outside of a learning game for children, along with the music appears like something from Wallace and Grommit. I clicked directly into Quick Mission Builder which looks want it has been taken from Janes WWII Fighters and hang up a single P-51D via a flight with no enemies without ground fire. I wanted first of all simple, exploratory aerobatics, and I also have many flight amount of time in the TriSynergy P-51D The Flying Undertaker, which is usually a great FSX add-on, and I desired to compare this P-51D with something I already knew was great. Out with the box to playing within 20 mins. Very simple install into my 64-bit Vista Ultimate PC. Works great with my old MS Force feedback II joystick. No bugs or problems I can find.
The game is definitely beautiful. The physics are awesome and also the whole experience is definitely as advertised. Seldom do I try a game approximately I love this place. Situational awareness within a sim can be challenging sometimes. Not so much using this type of one. Compared to CFS3, that is miles ahead in quality of experience. This game is really a time machine. Every time I start it, I find myself losing hours immersed in the experience.
Simulations are challenging. This isnt something with the impatient type. Joystick is usually a must.

When I start IL-2, it opens in the Main Menu intro movie disabled. Music is playing nevertheless the mouse cursor is frozen, so I cant select any buttons.
