I installed the and it also replaced Microsoft Visual C 2005 Redistributible version 8.0.56336 with version 8.0.59193. Then I installed the also it added Microsoft Visual C 2005 Redistributible x64 version 8.0.59192. The whole thing was getting very puzzling to me so for your time being Im leaving it alone in the meantime.

I ran windows update and yes it stated I had all of my files around date. I did the rename in the dll file to old and reran the scan and yes it worked so I am now at 100%. Running Win 7 64 bit and great help.
Thanks - this fixed it to me - though I dont hold the second 90 dll for the reason that folder nevertheless it fixed the scan problem.
Renaming the file using a OLD suffix is just not a fix, its only a cover-up that removes the file from being scanned by PSI.
I think this is really a false positive. There seems to become a 32-bit version from the file and also a 64-bit version and PSI doesnt accept the 64-bit version.
I seem to possess the same problem. ive tried uninstalling it and reinstalling etc but doesnt often work. In fact when I ininstall and perform scan PSI still detects the.762 version. Beats me.

After installing the patch made available from the PSI, do you check Microsoft Update again? The patches only become available following service pack has become installed.
Once I found the hyperlink I needed with the microsoft website, I was competent to install the update without any trouble, and PSI picked up for the update.
i just checked the Microsoft Update again and absolutely nothing else is provided.
First of I thought x86 described 32 bit software, even so the title shows x86 64-bit??
When I search Microsoft Downloads for version 8.0.50727.762 it returns together with the packages for Microsoft Visual C 2005 SP1 Redistributable Package x64 or The Microsoft Visual C 2005 SP1 Redistributable Package x86
When I hunt for 8.0.50727.4053, which Secunia show because latest version, few things are returned.
Anyway, I have never been competent to get rid of this insecure message. Tried the Secunia fix, restart, check program updates etc.

There should not be any problems. If you'll find, my solution firstly closes the vulnerability equally importantly is reversable if U detect issues U wouldn't have in order to making the change.

Hi everyone. I remarked that there were no replies or references to my post earlier with this thread and Im still totally confused. The files inside the download link supplied by PSI usually do not seem to be with the file that may be being flagged. I installed the also it replaced Microsoft Visual C 2005 Redistributible version 8.0.56336 with version 8.0.59193. Then I installed the and it also added Microsoft Visual C 2005 Redistributible x64 version 8.0.59192 on the list. I uninstalled the second and left everything alone and created an ignore rule with the file thats being flagged to the time being. If anyone has any insight to your situation that I experienced Id like some input. Thanks.
x86 is really a computer architecture, and x8664 may be the 64-bit version of this architecture. Saying that x86 is 32-bit software is really a bit of an oversimplification.
For those still struggle to patch Microsoft Visual C 2005 SP1 Redistributable Package x64, you must do installing Service Pack 1 for the product, here:
Reboot your machine, and look Microsoft update. Has this resolved the problem?
Ive just installed the Service Pack 1 from your link you helpfully provided.
I then scanned PSI. Problem there. I then downloaded the Solution Patch. Scanned. Problem there. I then checked Windows Update. No available Updates. I then rebooted. Scanned. Problem there to stay.
I then tried installing the Solution again ie the Microsoft Update patch. Problem there to stay. ive finally scanned again. Problem there.
Its stubborn issue to repair. Im stuck at 99 percent secure. Bah Humbug
Did you check Microsoft Update after rebooting? This may be the key to finding the updates.
The problem within this case is Microsoft Update will never deliver the patches until Service Pack 1 is properly installed - and that is certainly what the web link is for.
Yes I checked after rebooting. Makes no difference. No updates available from Microsoft Update.
I have completely uninstalled the Solution Patch, plus the Service pack 1, making sure that when I run windows Update it includes me the key update of Service pack 1. I downloaded giving her a very update. Rebooted. Ran Secunia scan. Still finds a difficulty. Downloaded the Microsoft update solution. PSI still finds problem. Rebooted. It still detects a vulnerability.
I guess im tied to it. Sometimes one just has to call home with 99 percent?
Error Code Received. Microsoft Visual C 2005 Redistributable is not removed. Contact Technical support group.

This is really what worked for me personally. I use a 64-bit computer running Windows 7.
At Programs and Features.
1. Uninstalled Microsoft Visual C 2005 Redistributable.
Empties C:Program Files x86Common Filesmicrosoft sharedVC.
2. Uninstalled Microsoft Visual C 2005 Redistributable x64.
Empties C:Program FilesCommon FilesMicrosoft SharedVC.
3. Installed.
Installs to C:Program Files x86Common Filesmicrosoft sharedVC.
4. Installed.
Installs to C:Program FilesCommon FilesMicrosoft SharedVC.
There were no subsequent Windows Updates.
Tried the suggestions from SMStallings - still no real?? Still 99%
I named them both old, and immediately Secunia said 100%
I then ran the installer expecting new files show up, but nothing was written compared to that directory??
I tried SMStallings suggestion too. tks for providing it. But Im afraid it didnt work for me personally either. number of interesting circumstances to report.
Even when ive installed the x86version it doesnt show up during my Add Remove programs consequently. Im not sure why
Also, when ive uninstalled my x64 version im quit with two earlier versions of C2005 that have install dates for much earlier inside the year.
Im wondering what can happen if I just uninstalled all. Im a little bit of out my depth.
Ive also noticed to the first time that further down my progs list there is undoubtedly an Visual C2008 Runtime setup package x64.
Does any with this prompt any brainwaves?
Having also Win 7 x64 installed, I followed SMStallingss suggestion and it also worked using a correction:
as soon as the 2 re-installations, the appropriate 8.0.50727.4053 is situated twice under Program Files x86Common Filesmicrosoft shared VC!!! 1 time as which can be correct then one time in a very folder AMD 64 that ought to be located under Program FilesCommon FilesMicrosoft SharedVC.
So, simply replace the incorrect old under Program Files by moving it there and PSI will directly detect the correction and provide you with a 100 % score.

OK, sorry, I got it wrong. I gave an unacceptable links within my earlier post. When I went back in recreate and document just for this forum what I had done, I grabbed an incorrect link from a youthful post. Also, I got confused when you use one 32-bit computer and another 64-bit computer. I apologize darn, I was so near to making it through 4 seasons without setting up a mistake.
Heres the best info; I repeated the complete procedure to make sure the folders dont get emptied as outlined above.
At Programs and Features.
1. Uninstalled Microsoft Visual C 2005 Redistributable.
2. Uninstalled Microsoft Visual C 2005 Redistributable x64.
3. Installed.
4. Installed.
There were no subsequent Windows Updates.

Still didnt work in my opinion sadly. Boohoo. But I havnet yet uninstalled either from the earlier versions of C2005. i have no idea whether its safe to try and do so. I might risk one.
well i grasped the nettle and uninstalled the main lot, ie everything C2005.
I tried various uninstalls and reinstalls. Microsoft Update identified the missing bits and recommended them as crucial updates which I did. At one time I even had two versions of x86 around my Add/Remove progs after I installed x86 on the link above before doing the Update from Microsoft. Worryingly while they have indentical names, they were not identically sized files. about 10kb adrift. How weird. Anyway, ive uninstalled one so I just possess the one now. Have done as numerous updates and PSI scans as you possibly can - all it doesn't help - for the point that Im now just about Scanned Out. I officially Give Up. at least for the present time

The problem as I view it is that may be not removed by an uninstall, or replaced which has a new install of C 2005 x64.
Of course I can rename the offending file as old, and Secunia immediately gives me 100%, but I don't think which is the correct way to solve the problem.
There may be some confusion in this particular thread between 32-bit and 64-bit systems. On a 64-bit Win7 the way shown is with the 64-bit programs 32bit will be in C:Program Files
The C 2005 x86 just isn't giving me any error on PSI.

a The presence in the two DLLs, vulnerable and never vulnerable confuses PSI; the appropriate remediation where both exist is merely to delete the version. Even in case you update your system, without detaching the old DLL it's going to still be vulnerable.
b Microsoft has released many updates to your 2005, usually the one that secunia is linking too will not be the most current version. Confusingly all of the versions contain the same name.
The most current version looks like it's SP11 that has a file version of 6.0.3790, the only real patch on this will be the ATL update.
I have downloaded nonetheless not right. What is up using this type of update?

I also renamed as OLD and immediately rescanned using Secunia after doing this the situation went away as the solution worked.

Please remember that my option is based for the fact that U are running 64Bit systems both files were present when U renamed.
Once U have confidence just go in there right click around the file U have RENAMED select delete.
It is really a minor pick up job therefore NOT IMPORTANT if U would rather leave things as these are. U feel secure.
well done Davech. I didnt hold the nerve to uninstall C2008 as well because the C2005s. Perhaps that creates the difference? My installation seems to be exactly the same as yours. I note in college the downloads on the Microsoft Centre. I wonder when it it would likewise have fixed it when you had just done the downloads via Windows Update Microsoft Update after uninstalling everything. Anyway, Im still bound to my 99 percent. Ive noted every one of the stuff people write with this thread about renaming the challenge dll file but I just dont think anyone should have to perform this. Id rather live while using problem than should mess about renaming files. It has to be noted too if we didnt have Secunia we may never have been aware of the issue and would've carried on in blissful ignorance and would not need to waste a great deal time within the issue. Theres is a great one and bad from the discovery on this supposed vulnerablity. Hopefully someone at Microsoft - and thats probably too big a hope - has read these musings all of which will do something about making certain their c updates do what they have to should do. Perhaps too those good guys at Secunia gives them an amicable but firm New Year boot inside the Download Centre. Until then lilfe, to me, remains 99 percent. Itll do.

For what its worth, the issue seems to be limited to either Win7 or 64 bits, or both. I have XP with SP3, 32 bit, fully patched via Microsoft Update, and in a very directory called Program FilesCommon FilesMicrosoft SharedVC I have at version 8.0.50727.4053, AND at version 9.0.30729.4148. The PSI finds no problem using this, and I have one hundred% score. No need to rename of uninstall anything.
for information, Microsoft just offered me a load of updates for several things, so ive done all. And do you know what? Yes it offers not made a jot of difference on the C problem.:-
