For whoever has used Microsoft Streets and Trips before, 2013 do not have any real changes. The buttons on top of the screen for locating nearby points or routing are style of ugly now however, you dont buy navigation software depending on how pretty the buttons are. I wanted updated roads, campgrounds and service stations so I upgraded from 2011 to 2013 and I got just what I expected. All the little annoying features like it added new stops to your end in the trip as opposed to by the nearest other stop are still there therefore you still must move the brand new stop up single click at a time. But if youre accustomed to Streets and Trips, there isnt any learning curve within the 2013 version.
For people who havent used Microsoft Streets and Trips before, I think this is actually the best with the navigation software. It isnt great and contains some irritating quirks that require a bit to get utilized to. There are features that might be nice to get, like to be able to look up truck stops as opposed to just gasoline stations or enter in the size of your motor vehicle so that it will avoid low bridges or tight city streets. But I havent found most things that works better or has those features. And it is accurate. That if you ask me is the most important part with the software. Ive experienced some remote locations with my Garmin plus it says how the place doesnt exist however if I keep to the Streets and Trips directions, Ive always gotten where I wanted to travel without issues. I plan trips with Streets and Trips, plug the results into my Garmin, and still have Streets and Trips in my laptop as support if needed. Its did wonders for me and Ive put on the extender for trips across the nation.
Thank you for ones feedback.

I are already a MST user for years about the PC. No problems. Bought the 2013 version to download onto new Microsoft Pro Surface 2 tablet and it isn't compatible to Windows Version 8. Wasted money as it can 't be refunded.
This is my second version of Streets and Trips. First, the application download was easy and quick. We have GPS and mobile phones, but we like multiple stop driving vacations and S 3, 000 miles fourteen days in Yellowstone/Tetons area, etc.
S stop x-min every x-hrs for /restroom stops, insert stop/start locations to understand more about then start/stop driving day times so can better determine where need to overnight. Based on our selected MPG, tank-empty % and driving habits, it possesses a refill location about the map, We have find this very beneficial when traveling in sparsely populated areas or late into the evening. The maps are fantastic, construction updates are free of charge, and then there are export features.
3 stars is fair because a few things are fair and a lot of things are poor with Streets and Trips. I am a field sales rep, and I have 400 customers whorrrre points around the map that I ought to figure out who to check out everyday. I am a heavy map user - Ive been using Streets and Trips for more than a decade, and I use MapPoint Microsofts other map tool for territory design break up the territories between reps initially, plus the Badger Map for building my daily schedule and organizing my territory.
First, the Good about Streets and Trips.
1. You can use it offline. This is an essential part for me personally, seeing as there are parts of my territory which can be our of service. When Im in service, I utilize Badger Map to plan my day and route on my own ipad, but once ATT doesnt seem like building towers, I find my trusty laptop and have on Streets and Trips.
2. Streets and Trips beats every one of the handhelds clearly. It allows me for getting granular manipulate my routes and select routes in a fashion that you cant while using handhelds. I need this for my job.
3. The new version allows me to switch and manipulate icons and filter them off of the map beautifully. Huge upgrade over past versions.
4. The display with the map plus the scheme/legend clear and clean. A great job so helping organize. It would be great if I could affect the order from the legend to prioritize and earn it make more sense.
5. The point of interest icons are excellent, and assist me to find stuff like hotels when I don't possess an internet connection
6. Maybe one of the benefits about ST is how the Multiple Destination routing Offline. I sometimes have 10 points each day if Im out prospecting. Being able to sort and organize my stops inside the best order and find directions derived from one of stop to next is awesome.
Would love one day so they can include print preview. This is my 3rd version. I take advantage of this for my estimators a. They adore it.
If you dont take care of longer reviews, Ive summed everything up on this first paragraph:
I help many high-end software applications, for example Steinberg Cubase and Adobe Photoshop, and I know without a doubt that MS Street Trips is regarded as the needlessly counter-intuitive application Ive ever used. Its not tough to use - - rather it merely doesnt function the best way anyone wants or expect a GPS application to function. If you use it every single day, you will get used for the backwards interface, nevertheless for someone just like me who uses the software program every now then, its so frustrating it could drive an individual mad.
I need to point out without delay that I dont use GPS for planning long trips with rest stops, calculating mileage, sights, etc. My only purpose for MS Streets Trips should be to simply know where I am constantly, and occasionally plan routes to gigs and back since I am a weekend warrior musician. Once you tell it to start tracking, it can do a great job than it. I use a GlobalSat BU-353 receiver. You always know what your location is. The additional map configurations political, terrain, and also nighttime are incredibly handy, the speedometer is dead-on accurate, and installation onto my ASUS tablet running Win 7 Pro was obviously a breeze.
But thats virtually where the accolades end.
The automatic route planner has major issues. It can choose some pretty weird paths. If the software program chooses a funky route therefore you want to alter it, you cant fix it really by moving or dragging it. Why, that could make an excessive amount of sense! Instead, you need to set up stops so how the software follows across the path from the stops. Read more

7. ST is effective - an easy task to install. I see that many people had problems installing ST and receiving it to work from the start. I do not have that problem, I employ a Lenovo Thinkpad which is about 36 months old.
1. Why cant I talk with my iPhone, why not consider my iPad? The fact that this is just in my computer is just about the biggest limitation. I need a send to iPhone feature. especially because the GPX export doesnt work - thats liable to bring me 2
2. When I export to GPX files which I wish to do because Im usually offline, the files are corrupt. Ive checked everywhere in the forums, this is very much happening to some people. I need to punch the addresses into my Garmin manually. not the end on the world though.
3. The road maps are pretty weak. They are just years behind on changes. luckily since Im mostly making use of this in places which are offline - the ones places dont change as often, this doesnt hurt much.
4. I regularly come across problems if I dont have the street name absolutely perfect. sometimes items like Lane as opposed to Ln etc will throw it well.
5. This is an important one for sales guys, but probably less vital for people attempting to design the trip. I must upload my customer lists, the ones lists have attributes, like customer type, sales information, etc. This is pretty bad in ST, of course, if you would like to change anything, you ought to start over. This keeps you from employing this as a place to look at notes and connect to customer data.
6. With every edition of Streets and Trips that you are starting from Scratch. When I attempted to load my old maps, from earlier versions of ST, it didnt work.
7. Google Maps incorporates a ton of features that Streets and Trips doesn't. It looks like since Streets and Trips is discontinued, Microsoft has admitted the war is lost here. Which is really a real shame, because Streets and Trips does so much that Google isn't going to do. Walking directions, the truly great traffic info, a refreshing database of landmarks, or buses, information on the place that the coffee shops are incredibly I dont drift off at the all missing in ST.
The automatic route planner has major issues. It can choose some pretty weird paths. If the software program chooses a funky route and also you want to improve it, you cant fix it simply by moving or dragging it. Why, that could make excessive sense! Instead, you should set up stops so the software follows across the path on the stops. Editing your route using this method is a pain inside the butt, because the software program can be stubborn and desire to send you on unnecessary round-the-block goose chases. And to build stops, you ought to exit the mode that you had allow for the application to plan a route from the start. What??? So, when you use this program to generate a route, even though it'll get you against A to B, thinking about spending time covering the entire route and manually inserting stops to improve all with the routes mistakes. Otherwise you will be listening to an incessant, mechanical voice blaring Off route!.
The maps can be not great, but theyre acceptable. Theres no font smoothing to communicate in of, that is sorely needed, but a minimum of you can enlarge the written text for easier reading. Microsoft seems to possess adopted Googles senseless white streets upon an off-white background color scheme, though the product offers optional maps: terrain, political, and nighttime map. In my opinion, the terrain map is made for daytime driving, along with the nighttime map is ideal for night driving.
The construction update information seems useless. MS Streets and Trips kept insisting on connecting me to your freeway by using a ramp that were closed for construction for up to a year.
But it is the counter-intuitiveness with this software that is certainly most annoying. For example, I entered a destination and wanted the software program to inform me how for getting there, even so the Plan Route button was disabled. I needed to exit the path planning sidebar and phone another sidebar which have a button for building a route from my current location, or press F3. And when the road was created, I was not able to move the map around to preview the road it set it up! And when I wanted to repair the routes mistakes by creating stops, I was required to exit the mode the software accustomed to plan the route to start with. Arrrrgh! This is one annoying program!
In summary, the offer does a fantastic job of tracking your whereabouts, and its particular loaded with features. The map quality could possibly be improved, however its acceptable. Unfortunately, MS Streets and Trips reliability like a route planner is questionable, as well as interface is outdated and unintuitive. This product is years overdue for just a complete redesign in the ground up. I find the feeling Microsoft determined years ago that it hadn't been going to bother competing with Garmin or another GPS services, so their investment of resources into the program was minimal at best, plus it shows.
Microsoft has discontinued the product and suggests using Bing Maps. Dont buy this supplement. Bing Maps is OK but I recommend you see something else. Whats most annoying is Amazon didnt bother to say this application is end of lifed. I found out over the setup, about the Microsoft web page. The app will not use the GPS on Microsofts own Surface Pro 3. Making it useless in my opinion. Waste of income.
I am pleased with this install. Kind of a long process.
Didnt use a DVD or CD and this worked came from here.
Not an excessive amount BS but does bother you with regards to a validation though and has a little time.
So you should put inside the numbers after which it connects to your internet to accomplish a validation.
A little large for any SSD drive but just like the fact it truly does work on its own no internet required.
Google earth has something wrong by using it as well in my computer something with all the display. Once did work but
now doesnt Gearth. Ive been buying this one for just a while. 2002, 2006, 2010, 2013. The 2006 had the GPS device. That was during or prior to the devices became available. Still the devices are already wrong from the past. Also mapquest 2002 accustomed to be a non reliable one. I had GPS devices inform me the wrong thing and online let me know the wrong directions. This is an advantage but it doesnt update normally, a pc you cant really see inside the car. If you do research and print the directions and make use of the GPS and both of them are good quality, odds are, you will allow it to become where you want to visit. This will provide you with directions. If you get together a sensor it's going to tell you in which you are located. The search feature is good. Put inside the address and tell it in which you are so you got indicate point directions. You dont should be linked to wifi or internet for getting your directions. You can also print them out if you'd prefer. You can make an online page save as and save it for a phone. There is really a phone feature but it just isn't highlighted
I updated so I could export a guide with certain locations about it to my garmin. I needed the update cause my old version wouldnt practice it What was frustrating was which the map I had created inside my old version couldnt be use within 2013 ST so I was required to find someone which has a 2010 version and still have them open it and save it from the 2010 version format then I could open it in 2013 and rehearse then save. Otherwise it might of got 5 stars.
Have used Streets and Trips for a long time in its various versions. Unfortunately Microsoft has decide to cease updating this method after the 2013 version. Looks like within the future we will need to go to Delormes software. However for your present I continue to use Streets and Trips, which can be easy to use, ideal for planning trips or maybe finding a path to a local address. While in car GPS covers some in this, there's no substitute for any map along with the clarity of adult size monitor screen. I have never had a blunder in using Streets and Trips but cannot repeat the same for that phone, car, or handheld GPS systems I have used who have taken me on weird routes or maybe didnt develop the addresses of their data base. I am not saying you can find absolutely no errors in Microsofts data, and surely much less than using a typical GPS. Streets and trips also offers the options of printing out hard copies of maps and directions, or they could be attached to emails. Streets and trips may also be coupled to your
