I purchased this dictionary to restore The American Heritage Talking Dictionary that won't work under Windows 7 Professional 64 bit. Besides working under Windows 7, my criteria became a dictionary and thesaurus that failed to require Internet access for full functionality. After reading various reviews around the Merriam Websters dictionaries I was skeptical regarding their functionality with Windows 7. It seems that most with the problems occur with assorted older versions on CD. However, after downloading this I was amazed as to how nicely this works.
This dictionary will search for any highlighted word within your browser, word processor, or email program very quickly. Highlight anything with your mouse or keyboard, press the key combination, and presto! It looks in the word.
The audio pronunciations work fine when available. Most common words have audio pronunciations, although not all words include this feature.
One flaw: The dictionary, once open, is not going to respond to many in the standard Windows hot key combinations. For example, Alt Spacebar then n should minimize the dictionary Window to be out with the way, but it really does not. It won't respond to the key combined Windows Key m to attenuate all Windows. This wasnt a fatal trait, but exclusively keyboarding without having a mouse is almost not an option. Within the dictionary Window, I have to utilize the mouse to pick out the thesaurus section and also to get back on the dictionary entry. Because on this I almost reduced my rating from 5 to 4 Stars.

I got my Merriam-Websters Collegiate Dictionary, Eleventh Edition from Amazon and am looking towards getting to know it better. I wanted an e-dictionary for my Kindle DX that has been not only that will work with my Kindle DX but had text-to-speech capacity to ensure I could actually hear the pronunciation from the word just as anybody can do on I could find no such dictionary, so I settled due to this Webster e-Dictionary.

I dont recommend owning precisely two dictionaries however; you will be needing a third to be a tiebreak.
