My children need to read to type. When I obtained a program, I went back and forth between Mavis Beacon and Typing Instructor. I finally decided upon Typing Instructor after which had the chance to use this method as well. They are different.
This program is common commercially available. In some ways, it is far better than Typing Instructor. There are no games. None. Nada. The instruction is obvious and there are several videos you'll want to watch. It is established to prevent advancement soon you pass the skill tests per lesson and have absolutely completed everyone lesson. I like this. Its a superb check for kids which cheat and merely take the tests. Its also ideal for adults that do not possess time to waste on games and simply want to acquire the keys down. update: My review was one star, but a comment in the developer forced me to be change the settings therefore we could move forward from level one. Ive been having fun with different versions of Mavis Beacon since second grade, and thanks in part towards the great instruction and use I received within my early years, I am a great typist. However, this type of version had nothing that is similar to the older versions I remember and I think it is incredibly clunky and frustrating to make use of. I was hoping this system would help my 10 and 12-year-old sons to grow their keyboarding skills, but listed here are the problems we ran into:
1. Installation went fine on our older 2007 iMac running Snow Leopard no complaints there.
2. This program is PERSONAL edition, meaning progress for merely one person will likely be saved. So unless you are a single individual, you'll need the family edition.
3. One of my sons hates video lessons and prefer to learn by doing, but this method requires you to definitely watch every video all the method to the end posture, finger positioning etc before it will allow you to move on on the next part.

I am very unhappy on this. I run Windows 8 and I checked to ensure this download can be compatible, who's said it was.
