though sometimes my reply normally takes a while.
Unless there is really a specific RPM for any higher AIX version than V5.1 available you happen to be always safe to make use of the AIX5L V5.1 version. AIX has excellent binary compatibility and thus I intentionally employ a rather early volume of AIX5L V5.1 to make my packages. They should all run using later AIX versions without problems. Exceptions to this particular rule are a handful of very OS-version specific RPMs, , GCC.

I dont want to cast any stones here but I highly doubt anyone who answered this post actually successfully installed the GCC compiler on AIX 7.1. I say that because I have already tried the versions about the AIX Toolbox for Linux Applications as well as the RPMs offered by P-Ware, Perzl plus some other up-to-date sites with no success. I even tried building my personal GCC compiler but some with the libraries needed for your build are not compiled on AIX 7.1 yet. I have spent several hours on Google researching why I cant install some from the older binaries which might be available and have absolutely found that GCC needs being compiled around the same version of AIX that it will operated with. Im demanding help from this forum because I realize that you have people out there whorrrre much smarter than me as well as perhaps one of them has worked out how to get GCC onto AIX 7.1. I want the GCC compiler so I do not possess to purchase the IBM C compiler which just isn't cross platform friendly. I would also love a more updated C compiler
brWe had lots of hickups and problems with 7.1 - especially towards serious reworking for the OS side. v6.1 TL6 SP2 does just fine and you will be idling there for a bit. Too many APARS and stuff being released. It seems some on the wheels are buckling with the information we currently have. SDMC replacing HMC. Power 8 returning, 7.1 definitely different to 6. brbrthey certified binary compatibility across all AIX, so ask IBM these questions and offer us what they are as much as. brbrJaco Bezuidenhout br076 395 2334 br021 983 5298 idctl00mmictl00grctl11bestanswerbody classtextarea-bestanswerhidden namebestanswerbody answerbodyId4316824Yes No
So you didn't win. Sorry to listen to. Over here we avoid AIX 7.1 for one more year or so, then will possibly explore it.

I havent experimented with install GCC but I havent had any complications with AIX7.1 yet. HA would be the product I take downside to. There always seems being a major issue. Default gateway disappears, clstat and cldump dont work right out in the box, filesystems are attached to both systems from a failover. Its a good product but supply a break. Im not here to check their product on their behalf.
brI just started using AIX 7.1 and for that reason far the appliance running for the AIX servers seems to become OK by it. I haven t tested HACMP into it yet and Randall s post just isn't helping. I did talk to IBM and so they recommended installing one from the GCC binaries for AIX 6.1 which I had already tried also it failed. Im giving up being a I have more pressing matters and I can live together with the IBM C compiler since I have zero other choice.

Im running PowerHA6.1. The product can be a good one, it would be the development that isnt as well as it should be. They release versions before these are ready. They repair it but again, we shouldnt be going after their testing.
I found a GCC compiler for AIX 7.1 for the /website and Ive compiled several programs from it so I realize it works the way it should.
Hi Kenneth. Where you able to uncover the GDB to work around the AIX 7.? Does the download from /include gcov and gprof, and if so, would they work for the AIX 7.1?

Yes, I was able to dig up the GDB from to figure with AIX 7.1 and I didnt need to do anything more than load the binary. The version I downloaded has gcov but isn't going to appear to have gprof. I have not tested gcov on my own systems nor have I had reasons to yet.
Thanks to the information Kenneth. One more question. Are you utilizing an IDE like eclipse? If so, where do you download. I thank you for help.

This site contains a bunch of open source and GNU R software programs built for AIX 5L, AIX 6, and AIX 7.
Some of the packages have one package per AIX version playing with most cases, a package intended for an AIX release 5.3 or 6.1 will also operate on upper releases.
Packages for AIX N do not operated with lower versions packages for AIX 7.1 do not run using AIX 6.1 or on 5.3.
The Open Source Packages for AIX might help compiling and packaging Linux applications on AIX systems, developing new applications for AIX while using GNU environment, and running popular software provided in Linux distributions like:
Web: Apache, MySQL, PHP, Python, Ruby, Memcached,
Development: gcc, gdb, Tcl/Tk, autoconf, automake, libtool plus some utilities: bash2, coreutils, binutils, tar, cpio,
Strategic applications: rpm, db, window managers, libraries, graphic
These packages likewise have a number of tools both for Linux appplication developers and Linux system administrators.
All packages are built while using RPM format.
Some open source licenses for example GPL require that individuals also have the source available.

OpenSSL 1.0.1n/1.0.1o users should upgrade to at least one.0.1p.
Bash package versions 4.2-7 continues to be upgraded to 4.2-9 including bash shell vulnerability patches.
