I will likely be getting this, as I havent seen it since 1958. The reason I got to see it had been an odd one. It was an August afternoon, dull and wet so not to summery to the month. I was eleven years of age and for some reason went in for the Woolworths store in Market Street, Longton, Stoke on Trent. When I was released, that it was thundering and lightning and absolutely tippling down. I hurriedly crossed Market Street and went up towards the Focus cinema and, purely for somewhere to shelter, paid my ninepence in the pay box and went in out in the storm and also the film that's showing was Lets Be Happy in CinemaScope and Technicolor. It was the only real film I saw within a cinema that I hadnt designed to go and find out. I just saw it with a fluke and, as much as I can recall, I thought it had been very colourful and entertaining. As Michael Caine might say in regards to the anecdote above: Notta lotta people know dat!
The original CinemaScope trailer recently gone up on YouTube. This will be the first time Ive seen this trailer, as my film diary demonstrates that I didnt go on the Focus to view anything the prior week, so I do not need seen this trailer on the time.

I received my copy today and it is an excellent CinemaScope transfer with beautiful colour far better than the photos seen in in post 1 above. Filmed inside the summer of 1956, the locations, including Edinburgh and Loch Lomond, are actually eye catching which film does for Edinburgh what Three Coins In The Fountain, also in CinemaScope, did for Rome. They still had double decker tramcars in Edinburgh in 1956 along with the film is really clear, it appears like it had been filmed yesterday as opposed to nearly sixty years back. A very entertaining romantic musical with stunning set pieces; some catchy numbers along with an unusual feel about it.

You need a Paint Shop Pro programme in your computer to crop and stretch images from 16 x 9 DVDs. Simply take the picture from your pictures folder to Paint Shop Pro; then crop it to acquire rid in the black bars bottom and top; save the results and then alter the picture size to 100 deep by 140 across and save the effect. I will likely be getting this, as I havent seen it since 1958. The reason I got to see that it was an odd one. It was an August afternoon, dull and wet so not to summery for your month. I was eleven yrs old and for some reason was missing in towards the Woolworths store in Market Street, Longton, Stoke on Trent. When I became available, that it was thundering and lightning and absolutely tippling down. I hurriedly crossed Market Street and went up for the Focus cinema and, purely for somewhere to shelter, paid my ninepence for the pay box and went in out from the storm along with the film that's showing was Lets Be Happy in CinemaScope and Technicolor. It was really the only film I saw in the cinema that I hadnt that will go and find out. Another film I remember seeing being a child and which - largely - comes approximately expectations. Also, the tuneful score is way better than some reviewers would have you believe. In her last film, Vera-Ellen kicks up a storm because naive American lass who visits Edinburgh to blow her small inheritance on a single fabulous holiday. She is especially good dancing in pajamas in the room nicely re-created Caledonian Hotel interiors plus in a newer way, inside the beautifully designed Card Ballet - during which she pictures herself playing a few Queens in trying to choose between two suitors: the charming but feckless American Tony Martin plus the engaging but mercenary Robert Flemyng. The widescreen colour print - which I understood to possess been lost - is excellent and also the film is let down using a lack of pace and tension, especially at the beginning, and also a mediocre screenplay. Fortunately, Vera-Ellen, Martin and Flemyng almost go above it. Lovely to get it restored to us!

Vera-Ellen is obviously worth watching which was, I believe, her final film. She is as energetic as always, though it has to be said that this songs and dance routines are not around Hollywood standards this is usually a British film. The technicolour remastering will be the best Ive seen anywhere - the colors are beautiful with fantastic photography of Scotland Loch Lomond and over Edinburgh. Tony Martin is his usual self so when you are a Martin fan you won't be disappointed.
