I uninstalled that old version 7.0 and rebooted the PC. I then downloaded and ran the AVG removal utility, and rebooted. Then put off the Firewall.
I then installed Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2009. No problems. Installation, updating, and configuration took only 20 min.
It was cheaper buying the program thru than renewing the 2007 version thru Kaspersky, which could had to become uninstalled anyway, and install the 2009 download. Plus this offers you a C D should you need to reinstall it at the appropriate time.

I had Kaspersky Internet Security Suit 2008 and was pleased by its performance. That is why I have bought Kaspersky Antivirus 2009 KA2009 about the Kaspersky web page. Here it started.
1 The product was sold for installation on 3 computers. However, even on second computer, it proclaimed itself one-month trial version.
2 Kaspersky support services appeared to become unreachable - they failed to answer my three e-mails, their contact number is permanently busy.

Not only that, nine away from ten times when I try and access the reports it requires so long to load that I should end this program with Windows Task Manager. Additionally, it repeatedly identified Microsoft IE and Office as viruses with annoying pop-up messages. On one in the few times the reports page would load within my own lifetime it established that it had done this 1700 times in a single day. I contacted product support through an email three weeks ago as well as have no answer.
Regardless on the fact that I have seven months remaining on my small subscription I have uninstalled Kaspersky and installed AVG Antivirus instead. In the first scan AVG identified over one hundred threats that Kaspersky missed, five ones were Trojans. AVG effectively and automatically completely got rid of each of them.

Most effective solution where my experience goes. Before switching to Kaspersky not too long ago, I used security software off their so-called well known vendor. Once a virus changed to my PC by having a torrent download. After searching much for the internet, I came to realize that only Kaspersky had solution for the trojan and it also was really the only solution that could fix the matter. Then on I have been a loyal customer with their products. This year I bought Anti-virus 2009. Happy while using purchase. Simple installation. Quick too. Least intrusive. Even full scan is very fast. Updates happen from the background without affecting what we are doing. The software isn't going to hog resources whatsoever. This is usually a big distinction business name band AV products which hog lots of resources. Over the years, I have been disenchanted along with other software vendor whose products are becoming too bloated while their secret sauce has diluted. Kaspersky usually focus within the core and other parts simple. Other vendors are more interested in signing you up for yearly updates as soon as you give your debit card details, thats it, they keep charging you whether you'll need their useless protection or you cannot. Getting beyond their automatic renewal just isn't very straightforward. You may need to call their support, be on hold for many hours, despite if that you may be lucky to get outside of their hook. Thus far Kaspersky is very simple with gentle reminders and absolutely nothing else. Lack of sales pressure seemed to be a reason to keep with them.

Im some type of computer tech by trade, so Ive had experience having a lot of antivirus packages. Ive heard plenty of good things about Kaspersky, but my experience hasn't been good.
Here is my short review: I dont like Kaspersky because its annoying, slow, and calls things vulnerabilities and viruses that arent. The interface is horrible. For example: important features are hidden behind non-obvious right-clicks. This software is unquestionably not to the basic computer user. A computer literate person may be able to dig up used to it-but why might you want to? Keep reading when you want specific details.
I installed it with a 3Ghz P4 computer running XP Pro. Some from the issues I had were specific to this computer, so I uninstalled the software program and tried it on the Dual Core Vista Business system. All the problems written here appeared on both of such computers.
First of most, the interface for your software is just bad. Even throughout the install, your next button is confusing. The back and cancel buttons have the bottom with the window, but another button is hidden inside the text. Its a dumb design choice.
For another example, when you do the whole scan youre given an index of vulnerabilities and viruses. There is really a link within the list. You cant select the link. It wasnt until a couple weeks in that I realized that you may right select the problem and select go to description. It wasnt obvious whatsoever. Important features shouldnt be hidden.
With Kaspersky switched on, full virus scans slow my computers down worse than other antivirus software. I couldnt watch a movie while scanning because doing so caused film to skip video works fine you should definitely scanning.
This software also found several false positives during scans. I havent had any real viruses since Ive installed it, so I cant reply to its virus removal.

1 It finds vulnerabilities which have already been fixed. If a program has upgraded but nonetheless keeps some of the earlier files, it says that the previous files are vulnerabilities and that you have to upgrade that software.
