Capturing video from my Hi8 Analog camcorder became easy too. The software that came while using product is referred to as Capture Wizard. I read good and bad reviews in this hardware, but I thought Id give it a go. I wanted to transfer about 15 old VHS tapes to DVD. Well, I never have it to work. Talk of a buggy product. I followed all directions on the T, but only might record once at SVCD quality. Every time I tried to capture at DVD quality, it wouldn't work right from the start, or start to figure but freeze after a couple of minutes. The tech sites answer for each and every question is reboot. Not helpful whatsoever. Im not science will be able to successfully use any hardware, unless it's malfunctioning.
Then that they had the nerve to inform me the limiting factor hasn't been their hardware, but, my personal computer. Well, excuse me, in case my system doesnt work together with this hardware, it has to not work together with 90% of peoples systems. I employ a P4 3.0 Ghz computer, 800 FSB, 2GB RAM, 200GB hard disk drive with 8MB cache, 256MB PCI-e video card, etc. Not a top gamer system, but really fast enough to deal with any kind of video editing.
Bottom line: Dont buy this hardware. It could have worked for someone, nevertheless it probably wont meet your needs. I would HIGHLY recommend the Canopus ADVC-55.
