Theres information in How the Earth Was Made, but probably the most interesting works with time. Quite often, the numbers are incredibly staggering that scientists it is known as deep time, a suitable term when one grapples using the notion the planet is 4.5 billion yrs old, or how the oceans were formed by rainfall that lasted literally numerous years, or that 700 million years back, Earth was completely included in ice that's a mile thick, with surface temperatures reaching minus 40 degrees Fahrenheit. On additional end with the scale are numbers that seem surprisingly small: as an example, it wasnt until 220 years ago which the accepted church doctrine concerning the planets age only 6000 years, based on the Bible was seriously challenged which the step to its past is discovered in rocks, not scripture, as the discovery that dinosaurs once ruled the Earth came considerably later than that. Using a blend of computer graphics and animation, various drawings and diagrams, photos, location footage, and expert commentary, this fascinating, 94-minute History Channel production takes us on the very beginning, in the event the planet was formed by meteors colliding in space, through numerous major events such as the appearance of water, granite, and oxygen and mind-boggling catastrophes for instance mass extinctions due to volcanic eruptions or enormous meteor that damaged 75% of most living things, such as the dinosaurs, some 65 million in years past, right nearly the present; theres also a glimpse in the future, when Earth may end up as barren and lifeless as Mars no requirement to hit the panic button yet, though-some billion more years will pass before you do. Bonus features include additional scenes plus a documentary entitled Inside the Volcano. -Sam Graham

I first watched this show within the History channel at the start of last winter and liked it immediately. So I pre-ordered the DVD on amazon immediately. It arrived a week ago and is currently making the rounds around my office!
Many a period of time, I have visualized how our precocious planet formed and evolved depending on paleobiological evidence. I always obtain a feeling of euphoria whenever I make a pristine Earth with dynamics which have been changing over mind-numbing time scales. Well, the graphics within this show come pretty near my own imagination.
The playback, divided by mostly uneven time segments, starts about 4.4 billion in years past and eventually works its strategy to the last ice age before briefly dwelling around the planets future. There is really a time slider that briefly appears at the outset of each time segment. Yes, dinosaurs are mentioned and shown but only briefly. Yup, stromatalites are usually in there too along with Trilobites. It should be noted the Cambrian Explosion plus the Carboniferous are mentioned. For some reason, I was surprised to master that granite first formed several billion a long time ago.
Other subjects discussed comprehensive include plate tectonics continents, mountains, etc., land inhabitation by flora and marine animals and super-volcanoes. The DVD ends which has a bunch of scientists dwelling for the future of Earth. I decided never to read a lot of into their predictions as I wont be around if/when what you predict happens.

From my viewpoint, this system delivers east to understand and understand geological processes and the direction they have a direct influence on anything else inside the Earths system being a planet.
This title can be a must for everyone that wants to find out about landscaping forming, dinosaur along with mass extinction events, continental positioning and just what the future holds for your planet and life for instance once the actual Ice Age break period
All in every I provide its well earned 5 stars!

Ive had this DVD on autobuy and must say just what a treasure it's. We have watched it countless times, my husband and I, even as we enjoy series genuinely.
We loved every minute of it and also the digital graphics was superb, very realistic. You sit there riveted on your screen because you watch things unfold. Its mind-boggling, watching that this earth is made.
Earth carries a past we never can comprehend, a gift we are now living in and take for granted plus a future that is certainly just too scary to contemplate. But all in every, what an amazing planet we are in.
This DVD takes us over a journey to the start. 4.5 billion year for being precise, in the event the planet was formed by meteors colliding in space.
Earth goes from the seething hellish mass of fiery molten rock, through numerous major changes which takes billion of a few years finally to this current day wonder we reside in.
And that just isn't all, we also have a glimpse into your future, when Earth will probably end up as barren and lifeless as Mars. Now, theres a scary thought.
But it seems like we do not possess to panic at this time, good experts we continue to have a few billions years to visit before earth becomes hell again. Phew, thats a relief! Quite frankly anyone could be scared than it!
This is an additional DVD definitely worth the money spent.

An simple account of the reputation of the earth as written in context as the rocks. While minimal attention emerged on Darwinian evolution, the perspective from the rocks sidesteps religion while re-enforcing support for foundational principles of evolution. Entertaining, quality, unbiased, and educational, How the Earth Was Made sets the story from the rocks without directly attacking religion.

I am a MAJOR science video far just ask my long-suffering spouse, and How the Earth Was Made is one from the best Ie experienced. I am getting it from Amazon in a very couple of weeks and I enjoy enjoying it on DVD.
How the Earth Was Made presents a geological reputation earth in a easy-to-understand, accessible form. The computer graphics are beautiful. I also enjoyed the narration and soundtrack to the present video. I especially enjoy learning new stuff and this video educated me in about the original source of banded iron formations, the scource of the majority of if not all in the iron really being mined. I also learned regarding the formation of oxygen around the Earth as well as the formtion from the oceans. Not only did I learn but was entertained also.
I strongly suggest this film to everyone.

Great CG documentary around the geological study of the world. Starts at 4.5 billion years back and speculates about all of the phases our planet goes through to the current day, using geological evidence. This rather boring subject was kept interesting throughout, with great CG, interesting facts and short interviews by incorporating geology nerds. Might be too boring with the young ones, there was clearly only a few shots of dinosaurs and Cambrian monsters. The narration by Edward Herrmann was just right perfect. I provide it with 5 starts considering that the price is an excellent option for what you are getting. 94 minutes and as well includes a not to ever shabby volcano documentary for an added bonus.
5. Earth frozen in a big snowball.
6. Snowball Earth melting through the inside.
4. Pangea and Rodinia forming.
